For over seven decades, the volunteers of Society Hill Fire Station No 1 have been the first to arrive when our community needs us most — and the first to help afterward.
Trained volunteers from right here in Society Hill, standing guard so you can sleep peacefully.
Society Hill Fire Station No 1 isn't staffed by strangers in uniform. The people who answer your call are the same ones who shop at the local store, send their kids to school here, and wave to you from their driveways. That's the difference.
Since 1953, our all-volunteer team has responded to emergencies, conducted fire safety inspections, taught community classes, and built a culture of trust that makes this the safest corner of Scotland County.
Every volunteer lives and works right here in Society Hill and the surrounding Scotland County communities.
Our volunteers maintain current certifications in fire suppression, emergency medical response, and hazardous materials handling.

From a handful of dedicated volunteers in 1953 to a fully equipped station serving the entire Society Hill community, our story is written in the lives we've protected.
A small group of Society Hill residents recognized the need for organized fire protection and formed the station with just one truck and a shared commitment.
As Society Hill grew, so did our station. New volunteers joined, equipment was upgraded, and the bond between the fire station and the community deepened.
Today, Society Hill Fire Station No 1 operates from our permanent home on South Main Street with a full complement of trained volunteers, modern apparatus, and an unwavering dedication to the community we call home.
